When people talk about landscape fabric, most of them immediately think of woven weed barrier fabric—the most common and widely used type in gardening and landscaping projects. Because of its familiar appearance and basic weed control performance, it has become the default choice in many people’s minds.
However, what is often overlooked is heavy duty landscape fabric. Compared with traditional woven weed barrier fabric, heavy duty landscape fabric is designed for more demanding applications and offers significantly improved performance. It provides better air and water permeability, helps retain soil moisture and temperature, and most importantly, delivers a much longer service life in outdoor conditions.
Heavy duty weed barrier is typically made from polypropylene (PP) and polyester fibers, and is manufactured using a needle-punched nonwoven process. The needle-punched process tightly intertwines the fibers, forming a high-density fiber layer.
